Student Professional Awareness Activities Month 2020 (SPAAM 2020) was a global event conducted by IEEE MACE SB in collaboration with IEEE Students in September of 2020. SPAAM set a benchmark for many online events to come after that, received critical praise for excellent vision and smooth conduct during these tough times and was awarded the BEST EVENT of IEEE Kochi Subsection. SPAAM 2020It was a unique event aimed at creating professional awareness and developing the professional skills of students, mainly non-technical career skills or soft skills. The event was formulated to fulfil the professional awareness requirements of students from all types of students pursuing any career. In the present scenario, technical skills and academic achievements are given more importance in the professional field and development of non-technical skills are given very low priority and SPAAM played a vital role in emphasizing the importance of professional awareness and addressing this issue . The webinars and competitions conducted as a part of this event gave attendees a comprehensive knowledge of the various career choices one can undertake and an opportunity to test out their social and interpersonal skills. Being professionally aware can help every person in making wise decisions regarding their professional life and thus make the best out of their skills and interests, and there lies the relevance of SPAAM. The main idea of conducting SPAAM was to enhance social skills like volunteering, effective communication, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking, which are important for a professional.
